Math 6 Saxon Pre-Algebra

School Year (September 8, 2026 to May 28, 2027)

This Pre-Algebra course strengthens students’ mathematical reasoning skills and introduces them to algebra and geometry. As students engage with numbers, patterns, and equations, they see a reflection of God’s unchanging truths and logical nature. Mathematics helps students cultivate order and problem-solving abilities. Topics covered include fraction, decimal, mixed number, and percent operations, scientific notation, prime and composite numbers, order of operations, coordinates, exponents, roots, ratios, algebraic expressions, solving equations with one variable, signed number operations, scientific notation, ratios, geometry fundamentals, probability, the Pythagorean Theorem, and more. Homework will average 3-4 hours per week reinforcing concepts and encouraging independent learning.

Prerequisites

Minimum age of 11 and maximum age of 13 on the first day of class. Successful completion of VSA Mathematics 5 - Saxon 76 or comparable course in the previous 24 months is strongly encouraged.
