Pre-Calculus Math-U-See
School Year (September 2, 2025 to May 22, 2026)
Pre-Calculus is an introduction to advanced studies preparing the student for Calculus. It combines classic trigonometry with advanced algebra skills. Mastery of linear equations, inequalities, and systems will be applied to the study of functions, the nature of graphs, and vectors. Topics include understanding trigonometric ratios, reciprocals, and inverses; trigonometric expressions and identities; polar coordinates and radian measure; graphing and analyzing trigonometric functions; understanding functions, limits, domain, and range; Arithmetic and Geometric series and sequences; Laws of Sines and Cosines; Sum, Difference, Double-Angle, and Half-Angle Identities; proving trigonometric identities; and logarithms and natural logarithms. Math-U-See Pre-Calculus meets the Pre-Calculus requirement for the VSA Associate and Standard Level diploma only. Homework will average 5-6 hours per week. Prerequisites
Minimum age of 12 on the first day of class. Successful completion of Algebra II Math-U-See or comparable course in the previous 24 months is strongly encouraged.
