Calculus I
School Year (September 2, 2025 to May 22, 2026)
This first course in calculus is a substantial and thorough introduction to the three main ideas of calculus: limits, derivatives, and integrals. After a review of prior function concepts, students proceed to develop a concept of limits. They apply this concept to define the derivative and explore its applications, and then return to define the integral, exploring its relation to the derivative. We discuss numerous integration techniques and applications. This course is eligible for dual enrollment credit for junior and senior students, and is an AP Calculus AB course approved by the College Board. Homework will average 5 - 6 hours per week.
