Chess Club - Intermediate-Advanced

If you already know what a fork is (we don’t mean something you eat with!) and can stop Scholar’s Mate, this may be just the place for you. Taught by a professional chess coach, this club will cover chess at a more advanced level. This year, each week we will be looking at some of the history of some of the world champions of chess, and analyzing their games. Note: some of the content in the advanced group will vary year by year to ensure that each year is meaningful and interesting. Each week will include a lesson, time for puzzles, or an activity to reinforce the topic, and dedicated tournament time to play with other students. There will also be several tournaments to foster competition outside our normal class time, including a club championship in the spring!

VSA Clubs are only open to currently enrolled students.

Prerequisites

VSA Secondary Clubs are only open to currently enrolled students who are in 7th grade through 12th grade for the 2023-2024 academic year.
