Grammar and Writing 6 Shurley and IEW
Building on the concepts in Shurley from Grammar and Writing 5, students will continue to drill the Shurley English jingles and use the practice sentences for the week, making sure they increase their understanding of the concepts and parts of speech. Students will also use techniques from the Institute for Excellence in Writing to continue to develop their writing skills with the key word outlines, narrative stories, summarizing from notes, and creative and essay writing. Extensive feedback will develop their technical writing skills, readying them for Composition-level work. The CD provided with the course will be used to practice Jingles and practice the Question and Answer Flow with homework sentences. Parents should expect to provide consistent oversight and assistance on school days with no online class, including checking homework. Recommended for grade 6. Homework will average 3 - 4 hours per week.
Minimum age of 9 and maximum age of 12 on the first day of class.
