Statistics

Students will focus on developing statistical thinking and the use of basic statistical concepts using modern computer-based practices. Emphasis is on concepts using modern technology-based practices, with emphasis on statistical concepts. Topics include sampling and experimentation, descriptive statistics, probability, binomial and normal distributions, estimation, single sample and two sample hypothesis tests for means and proportions. Real up-to-date data and examples using current events will be used. It is intended to develop students into consistent statistical thinkers. This course is eligible for dual enrollment credit for junior and senior students. Homework will average 2 - 3 hours per week.

Prerequisites

Minimum age of 15 on the first day of class. Successful completion of VSA Algebra II or comparable course in the previous 24 months is strongly encouraged.
