Chess Club - Introductory
Veritas is pleased to partner with Chess4Life to bring life skills through chess to our students. Become part of a growing group of over 25,000 students from beginners to more than a dozen national champions. That's the success that Chess4Life has had over the years. Do you want to learn one of the oldest and most widespread games in the history of the world? This is the place for you! Taught by a professional Chess4Life coach, this club will cover how chess pieces move, general opening principles, basic chess tactics, and how to win a game of chess, including some of the most important checkmate patterns. Each week will include a lesson, time for puzzles or an activity to reinforce the topic, and dedicated tournament time to play with other students.To determine which VSA Chess Club section is best suited to your skill level (Introductory or Intermediate-Advanced), take this short quiz: VSA Chess Club Quiz 1st and 3rd Thursdays, 4:30 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. ET Exact schedule will be released in September. Club begins in October. VSA Clubs are only open to currently enrolled students.
