Mari Fanning

Fanning_marileigh_faculty Mari Leigh Fanning has been an educator most of her life. Upon graduation from high school, she fulfilled her dream of teaching ballet at a local dance studio. When her first child was two years old, she began to hear the Lord calling her to homeschool, and she has never looked back! Mari Leigh has received training in classical education, and since 2013 has been tutoring and teaching memory work, English grammar, and IEW. Mrs. Fanning also taught ESL online to students in China for four years. In addition to homeschooling her own children, she currently works as a Latin, IEW, and linguistics teacher at a hybrid school in Huntsville, Alabama. Mari Leigh received her Bachelor of Arts in social work from Alabama A&M University in 2005, and is currently pursuing her Master’s in Secondary English Language Arts Education from the University of West Alabama. Mrs. Fanning has thoroughly enjoyed learning alongside her children and pursuing her own education.

In her spare time, Mari Leigh enjoys reading, traveling, running, hiking, and playing tennis. She was raised in a Christian home but became intimately aware of Christ’s love for her at the age of 15. She and her husband have been youth group and small group leaders, and have assisted with children’s ministry in their local church. Her faith journey since then has been filled with mountains and valleys. Through failures, losses and struggles, she has learned to place her hope and trust in the Lord alone, and has continued to fall more deeply in love with Jesus as her Savior, Redeemer, Provider, Healer, and Peace-Speaker. She is happily married to her high school sweetheart, Robert, and is the proud mother of four amazing boys: Jeremiah, Jacob, Joseph, and John Robert.
