Susan Crainshaw has loved a great story ever since she binge-read the Little House books while she battled chicken pox as a young girl. As she homeschooled her three children, she knew the joy of sharing great stories with them. After she and her family relocated to Jacksonville, Florida from the Kansas City area in 2007, Susan spent 11 years teaching primarily writing, literature and history courses across multiple grade levels at their homeschool co-op. For the same group, she and her husband co-directed the annual middle and high school Shakespeare production for nine years, tickled at the “dramatic growth” they saw in their students’ willingness to speak and perform with increasing boldness. In addition, she has more than 15 years of experience copy editing and writing for a variety of newsletters, magazines and businesses. Susan earned her bachelor’s degree in Journalism, graduating from the University of Kansas with highest distinction. She is a Midwesterner at heart, still cheering for her hometown Chiefs, Royals and Jayhawks—but savoring the early arrival of spring in Jacksonville every year. Her two oldest children, Graham and Ashley, have earned their bachelor’s degrees and migrated back to Kansas City. Her youngest, Abbey, is attending college in Florida. Susan’s husband, Kevin, is the Associate for Worship and Arts at their church in Jacksonville, where she’s served in a variety of ways, including teaching children’s and youth Sunday School and helping in the worship ministry in a very non-musical way!
